For those of us south of the equator, the promise of summer has been flirting with us over the past couple of weeks. Sydney has well and truly sprung with the smell of jasmine in the air and the faintest of freckles starting to appear on the noses of sun worshiping Sydneysiders. Being mid-October, this is usually when I start to dust off my bikini and inwardly groan about my serious lack of exercise over the mid-year hibernation and lament the sneaky few kilos (made up entirely of red wine, pasta, and one too many Sunday Netflix binges) that I acquired since last summer. Summer bodies are made in winter, they say.
Well, to my utmost surprise, something happened to me this winter that saw me throw off the doona, spring out of bed and be at the gym pre 6am. That thing is One Hot Yoga.
I had heard from many a girlfriend, blogger and Instagram fitness influencer that pilates reformer literally whips your body into shape like nothing else, yet I’d never joined the bandwagon. That was until I walked into the beautifully designed studio at One Hot Yoga in Potts Point. Think minimal scandi design meets boutique fitness studio – yep, complete heaven. White washed walls, translucent linen floor to ceiling drapes and led lined windows greet you upon arrival at the studio. It is so beautiful, you could be forgiven for thinking you had just entered the Koskela showroom.
I love a good cardio session that really gets the blood pumping, but what I love most about reformer is that the exercises are so targeted and quick that it’s maximum results for minimal pain … well until the next day that is! So outside of my new fitness obsession that is reformer, this gorgeous studio also offers a range of yoga classes ranging in temperature (for a light sweat, opt for the 27-degree room, for maximum sweat go for the 37!) and also mat based pilates.
When exercise looks this good, it’s kind of hard to say no.
